Master's Paper

This paper explores the health outcomes of counties in North Carolina and South Carolina that are classified as either 'news deserts' or 'food deserts' (or neither) and compares them to the health outcomes of counties that are classified as both news deserts and food deserts. The paper proposes that counties that are classified as 'dual deserts' experience poorer health outcomes than counties that are 'single deserts' or 'non-deserts', and this represents a health disparity.
